Physical Health and Well-Being

Week 4:  Physical Health and Well-Being

  • Prioritizing physical
  • Stress management strategies and techniques

Welcome to Week 4 Friends!  As I stated last week, we are going to repeat, repeat, rinse, and repeat.

Physical health refers to overall well-being and functioning of the body.  This includes strength, flexibility, balance, sufficient rest, avoiding harmful habits.  Consulting with healthcare professionals and following their guidance is crucial for maintaining and improving physical health.

Benefits of maintaining physical health include but are not limited to:

  • Reduced risk of disease
  • Increased energy and stamina
  • Improved mental health
  • Better weight management
  • Stronger immune system
  • Increased longevity
  • Enhanced cognitive function
  • Better bone health
  • Improved quality of life

Mental health refers to emotional, psychological, and social well-being.  This area affects how you think, act, and feel and plays a crucial role in the quality of your life.

Benefits of maintaining mental health include but are not limited to:

  • Emotional well-being and the ability to emotionally regulate and manage a wide range of emotion, while navigating through emotions such as sadness, anger, and stress.
  • Improved resilience which is our ability to “bounce back” from adversity, challenges, and setbacks.  Increasing coping skills helps us to adapt to change and sometimes we have to do things that make us anxious or induce fear-based thinking in order to get through it and look back recognizing what we can achieve.
  • Enhance self-confidence and self-esteem and contributes to a positive self-image, perception of abilities and worth.
  • Better relationships and connections due to being healthier and more meaningful
  • Improved cognitive function including memory, attention, concentration, problem-solving as well as sleep
  • Reduced risk of mental health disorders that develop due to situations including anxiety, depression, and personality disorders.
  • Improved quality of life with a sense of fulfilment, purpose, and satisfaction.
